Designer and founder of Patouf, Anna Angseryd, found the inspiration for the AW13 collection in Jackson Pollock’s non-conventional paintings.

Pollock’s style of painting, which avoids any points of emphasis or identifiable parts within the whole canvas and abandons all ideas of traditional composition, really rings true to the Patouf aesthetics this season. This is the second season that Patouf has included a men’s collection and Anna has playfully added even more unisex pieces, blurring boundaries and avoiding emphasis on conventionality. The shapes contrast between constraint and free flowing by adding flounced cuffs to structured dresses, removable pleated skirt pieces mixed up with masculine shirts and reversible oversized jackets, wide-legged unisex trousers and copper metallics.

Anna was really inspired by Pollock’s use of texture and multiple layers. The use of layered textures throughout the AW13 collection creates a shimmery transcendent appearance. The ink stained prints, loose structures and copper metallic shade for the boots creates the perfect balance of the expected and unexpected.
