Need a good, inexpensive bite to eat in the centre of Soho? Zebrano have the perfect solution, so we popped in to the Greek st bar/restaurant to check it out!

As we arrived we noticed a couple of boards outside, offering deals for night clubbing later in the evening – bring 10 people and they’ll give you £50 worth of drinks, 20, and its £75 etc. etc. which is all well and good if your out for a late one, but what we weren’t prepared for was the restaurant menu prices! for the entire summer they are offering a lunch and dinner menu with entres £4.00, Mains £5.00 and desserts at £3.00. I must admit to being a little skeptical at this – I mean, when something looks too good to be true, it usually is, so we sat down and ordered with trepidation, opting for the King prawns, followed by the Sea Bream, whilst my partner in crime decided on the smoked Haddock fish cakes and a steak. (Yes, a steak for a fiver!) Adding a couple of glasses of white wine to the mix, we settled down in anticipation. Oh, and did I mention they also have a deal on wines? A choice of three white, three red, and a rose for £10 per bottle, and if Beer is more your style, Heineken and Becks are £2.75.

Before long I was eating my words as well as my fish! The Prawns were well presented and delicious, swimming in their Garlic butter, whilst the fishcakes, although a little plain looking were well seasoned, and certainly an ample serving at the price. The mains arrived with the 8oz steak cooked to perfection, accompanied by a mushroom or peppercorn sauce, chips and mediterranean vegetables, and the Sea bream was served on a bed of Mash, with minted peas, showing a lovely crispy skin and again perfect seasoning. Follow this up with the most enormous fresh fruit salad and whipped cream for dessert, and we had an entire three course meal including a glass of wine, for under £30 for two people! The specials menu also provides for a vegetarian option for both starter and Main, or if you prefer, they also offer a choice of sharing platters for 2, all priced at £10.

On top of this, the staff were friendly and helpful, there are ample power-points and fast wifi for that all important “working lunch”, Situated half way down Greek st, its the perfect central location, and its open right through from 12noon until very late,

Zebrano, we love you! Perfect for a quick bite, a working lunch, a pre- or post-theatre supper or just to catch up with friends, with the option of private rooms, newly renovated which can be hired for up to 100 guests, with flexible pricing to suit all budgets! The recession is over, for Zebrano, at any rate!

Travelling Foodies: A Guide To Eating Out In Vancouver

Deciding where to eat out in the Canadian city of Vancouver is like asking a child to choose their favourite sweet treat in a shop full of sweet treats; they’re all equally delicious in their own right and it’s much better to educate the taste buds than to stick to the same flavours (in my view, anyway).
